Rangana Herath, Sri Lanka’s legendary left-arm spinner is that the front-runner to exchange Daniel Vettori as Bangladesh’s spin bowling coach. BCB cricket operation chairman Akram Khan confirmed the event to they’re going to be taking the ultimate call soon.
The Bangladesh spin bowling coach’s post went vacant after Daniel Vettori was unable to hitch them daily thanks to the pandemic. BCB opted to fill the role with local spin coach Sohel Islam during the two-match Test tour of Sri Lanka and albeit he has enough support within the room, he won’t be ready to join the squad in Zimbabwe after choosing paternal leave.
India’s Sairaj Bahatule and Pakistan’s Saeed Ajmal are the opposite two candidates in BCB’s list. “Herath is one among the candidates and he’s certainly a front-runner for the post,” Akram said on Monday (May 31).
“We would try our greatest to finalize it before the Zimbabwe tour as Australia are going to be touring Bangladesh just after the Zimbabwe tour with New Zealand and England the following suit.”
Herath confirmed on Monday that he’s having discussions with BCB to require up the vacant post. “I’m at the instant in discussion with them,” he said.
